Where is Heaven? Installation. Granite, slate, basalt. Printed news sheet. Photographic imagery etched into granite, slate and basalt. Printed news sheet. A5 sheets of Hannemuhle paper attached with silver clips. Where is Heaven? Is an investigation into contemporary views about the notion of the afterlife, and a struggle with the acceptance of death and dying. Advertisements were placed in a variety of newspapers and publications requesting responses to the question Where is Heaven? (read more…) These responses have been incorporated into a broadsheet which visitors to the gallery are invited to take. Some have been pinned to the wall. Visitors are asked to contribute to this installation. A row of pleading, tormented faces, eyes raised to Heaven adorn heavy granite memorials. Hundreds of petitions hung in rows by tiny clips on a wall of prayer. An artist's book for this body of work using photo etching and blind emboss is in process.
